Statt B\u00f6rger, H\u00fcmmling-Gymnasium und SV Sigiltra S\u00f6gel lebt die 17-j\u00e4hrige Emsl\u00e4nderin jetzt im englischen Tavistock, einer feinen Kleinstadt 25 Kilometer n\u00f6rdlich von Plymouth. Das namhafte Sportinternat Mount Kelly ist jetzt das Zuhause f\u00fcr ihre schwimmsportliche, aber auch schulische Entwicklung. \u201eAuf dieser Schule gibt es alles, was man f\u00fcr ein erfolgreiches Schwimmerleben braucht \u2013 einschlie\u00dflich 8-bahnigem 50-m-Pool, 25-m-Pool und Gym!\u201c, so Lotta Schmees extrem zufrieden und sie will alles mitnehmen und neue Erfahrungen sammeln. \u201eDie sind hier in vielen F\u00e4chern zwar weiter als am \u201eH\u00fcmGym und daran, dass alles auf Englisch ist, gew\u00f6hnt man sich auch relativ schnell!\u201c. So kann sich die Schwimmerin voll auf ihren Sport konzentrieren \u2013 einschlie\u00dflich Fr\u00fch- und Krafttraining: insgesamt acht Wassereinheiten und einmal im \u201eGym\u201c pro Woche. Der erste Schwimmwettkampf \u2013 sozusagen ein \u201eWasserstands-Leistungstest\u201c \u2013 zeigte ihrer Trainerin einen klaren Einblick \u00fcber den Formzugewinn und Lotta bewies auf der 25-m-Kurzbahn mit eindrucksvollen Siegen, was in ihr steckt. Beim ersten Start f\u00fcr das Mount Kelly Schulteam \u201cexplodierten\u201c ihre Leistungen geradezu. Neun pers\u00f6nliche Bestmarken, insbesondere in der Schmetterlingslage, waren der Beweis und die Basis f\u00fcr den Sieg ihrer Mannschaft. Die wertvollste Zeit schwamm die S\u00f6geler Gymnasiastin \u00fcber 100 m Schmetterling, wo sie sich um \u00fcber vier Sekunden auf starke 1:11,45 Minuten steigerte. Neben der Ausdauer verbesserte sie auch ihre Grundschnelligkeit in allen Schwimmlagen. Lotta wird Ende November in Nuneaton &amp; Bedworth bei Birmingham ihren zweiten Wettkampf in England absolvierten. \u201eIch bin gespannt, ob meine Tochter dann noch was drauflegen kann!\u201c, ist Vater Hermann, selbst passionierter Masters Schwimmer, gespannt.
